Does anyone here have experience with removing both the front and rear door handles on the MK7 5-door platform? I'm assuming the inside door panels have to come off, but can't seem to find where to

1. reattach the 2 8mm screws BEFORE reattaching the lock mechanism. 2. make sure the retaining spring is partially located BEFOE putting the surround back into the door. Its a little fiddly, but means when you insert the lock back into the hole you can just push the spring clip back into place.

A common symptom is the door wont lock or unlock, in this case it sounds like the latch is sticking; the handle is returned by a lever with a small cable attached to it, there is no spring in the handle itself so you will most likely need to remove the door panel. 16. remove the 3 screws and panel for access to door handle. 17. using access area now available unlatch the rod attached to exterior door handle (unclip plastic to rotate clip up to allow rod to slide out-toward hinged edge) 18. using access area now available remove rod from ext door handle from inside door area 19. remove the 3 -10mm head bolts

4. Using a small flat head screw driver or anything else as a pry tool, pull the lower portion of the handle out from the door untill you can. slide your pry tool in between the clip and handle. Pry spring out. Lock will now slide out the back of the handle. 5. Remove handle. To replace handle: 1. Test all 4. DSC_3387 Now remove all the old headliner fabric and remove all the old foam. The headliner and the sunroof panel need the foam removed. The pillar covers only need the fabric stripped. When the fabric is removed from the pillar covers a bunch of white fuzz is left stuck to them. Leave that on. It's really on there. Remove them later. Pull the door handle open and you should be able to pull the lock cylinder straight out after the bolt is loosened. Release the door handle and look inside. There's a plastic clip at the end of a cable (white arrow below). Pry the clip out and let it hang (red arrow below). Remove 3 small screws at bottom of door panel & remove 2 door handle pull screws. Pop out plastic white panel clips with a puddy knife. Slide door panel upwards to free lip at the top next to window. Remove at least 3 screws on door handle support bracket so it pivots down. Peel back some of the inner plastic cover to reveal an opening. .
