heat is my favourite for sure. payback had the potential to be interesting, but its so confusing in terms of progression. the map size of payback trumps heat, though. Payback is one of the most disgraceful NFS games I've ever played. Honestly the only games I play are racing related.

Payback had lots of limitations when you first start the game and unlock more as you play more throughout the story while heat has no limitations when you begin the game giving you more freedom. The only thing the two games have in common is that they both died too fast.
